Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She is an American Mexican actor. She sings as well. Her mother was her primary caregiver in the USA and she was subject to numerous racial slurs that left her feeling like an unwanted person. Her confidence began to grow during the 9th grade, when she appeared in an audition. She received a lot of praise for her singing. Not only did she gain confidence through the audition and gained experience, but also changed her the direction of her career. She was a graduate of New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. She started her professional journey at age 23 with Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and You've Got Mail in film. In the Broadway original production of Spamalot, she played the role of Lady of The Lake which won the Tony Award as well as critical praise. Following that, in 2007, she was cast on the ABC series Grey's Anatomy and became more popular. Known as a singer she also released a single and an extended play. As an activist, she strives in the cause of LGBT equality.
