Cassandra Monique Batie known professionally as Andra Day is an American R&B and soul musician, songwriter and actress. Apart from a Grammy Award and Golden Globe Award she is also nominated as the winner of an Academy Award. Andra Day is a powerful artist and songwriter with a unique voice. She is not just a throwback R&B specialist her roots in gospel jazz and the blues performed with ease and grace are carried into today's music. Stand Up for Something, her contribution in 2017 to Marshall's score for the movie Marshall was awarded her the Academy Award as well as the Grammy. Amen (2018) as well as Take Your Troubles go Away (2020) and their Golden Globe winning portrayal of Billie Holiday (The United States vs. Billie Holiday 2021) are all contributing to the anticipation for her next album. The actress was born Cassandra Monique Batie in Edmonds Washington Andra Day, she grew up in San Diego and its metropolitan area where she performed in church and enrolled at the School of Creative and Performing Arts. After leaving the School of Creative and Performing Arts, Andra Day began to focus her attention on contemporary R&B and Pop but soon discovered her jazz-inspired soul influences were what she was most attracted to. An important break occurred when a performance of hers was spotted by Kai Millard Morris who subsequently offered some of Day's songs to husband Stevie Wonder. The Motown legend in turn connected Day with music industry veteran Adrian Gurvitz. In partnership to Gurvitz and Jeffrey Evans' Buskin label Day developed a popularity on YouTube and later signed to major label Warner Bros. n 2012 Day made her debut track Forever Mine on YouTube. It was quickly picked up by DJs and they began broadcasting it to the radio. After signing in 2015 to Warner Bros. Records she began work on her debut album, Cheers To The Fall with Adrian Gurvitz. It featured the track Rise Up that has since become a global music video for social justice campaigns. Day was awarded two Grammy nominations for her album, including Best R&B Album. The United States Versus Billie Holiday was her second studio album that was released in the year 2019 and it was a concept album about Billie Holiday's life. The United States against Billie Holiday was released in 2021. It was the same year that she also appeared in the film Holiday. Andi Matichak is an American actor. She first appeared in television series such as 666 Park Avenue, Orange Is the New Black and Blue Bloods before making her movie debut as Allyson Nelson, in the horror film series Halloween and its sequels. Andi is an American actor born in Framingham on 3rd May 1994.
